What’s sad is that most people under 30 don’t care about, or even want ot listen to, someone who can play guitar like this.

Back when Johnny could still fuckin’ SMOKE

  5. Geepsterr Says:

@lonestar7703 I don’t think that is the reason though : more to make it easier to sing without changing the fingerings . I know plenty of guys who do it . The Beatles did it on early tours as they were getting weary but only to Eb . Jimi usually Eb then D with Band of Gypsies. VanHalen was Eb till Sammy Hagar, then up to E .

  6. lonestar7703 Says:

That makes sense. easier to bend.

    what year?

  8. krogare Says:

@lonestar7703 I think he changed his tuning from E to D sometime along the years… not 100% sure though, but maybe that could explain it?

  9. turbogrammy Says:

He did tend to get into the jam. I saw him a few times and loved every one. Saw Edgar too. ROCK ON !!!

Does any one else notice that this version is in G blues, and the studio is in A blues?

@LTmattYT The only thing coming out of Compton are dead black people; most of them under thirty years old.
Good ole blues extraordinaire Johnny Winter was born with a guitar in his hand. From there he got better and better even though he did a stint with the warm woman; Heroin; and her friends Cocaine and Jack Daniels.
Heroin helped to make him play better than ever. Just like Keef.

Great Song, one of my favorite Johnny versions-the best version was when he had two drummers, Richard Hughes and ??, Randy Jo Hobbs on bass, and the dancing girl with hot pants and cowbell, at the amphitheater in Chicago. Seen him from Rick Derringer , with Edgar, met him, Johnny is a National Treasure!

  20. coralseaclyde Says:

I have seen him soo many times from 1970 till now. He is on here. So many times he comes out and plays 1 hr and 10 mins of crap. Sometimes he rips. He plays here.

I’m a huge JW fan and have to agree you are definitely right on about the Lazer sound… glad he went back to his trademark Gibson sound…

  22. Mrbiggerjobs1000 Says:

He’s just amazing isn’t he? I think he’s incredible. I love this version

  23. Bopalena Says:

“Too many notes”? Didn’t they say that to Mozart? Johnny’s the best and in good company with that quote!

  24. fjansz Says:

I don’t agree at all. This is an uninspired version of the song. Johnny’s done better ones than this one. I also think his ‘black Erlewine Lazer period’ wasn’t that well at all. Too harsh as far as sound is concerned and way too many notes. But hey, just an opinion.

  25. Bopalena Says:

Hey, Australia is nice too. I was in Doublebay near Sydney in ’96 and I had a great time. Beautiful wimminz there too!
